I often forget to copy my Instagram posts and paste them here. It might actually become a recurring theme 😕
Anyways, here's day 20...

Anyways, here's day 20...
My thoughts are really jumbled today. I'm thinking about a lot of things and I don't really know how to express them coherently. Bear with me please.
I was watching the documentary, The True Cost, the other night on Netflix and it left me disturbed. The documentary was about how fast fashion had become not only a means of destroying the environment in some third world countries, but also a means of oppressing their people. And I've been thinking about how much we, as a society, take for granted. We are blessed with not just material blessings, but we have been given rights that were previously unheard of and even today aren't enjoyed by most.
I'm speaking about our rights to protest and show dissent. In the west, we are allowed to march for our rights and take to social media to voice our frustrations, without fearing for our lives. And what a blessing social media is. I wonder would the case of Dr. David Dao even have come to light if not for social media. And how many more African-Americans would have been persecuted if not for the fear that a video of the abuse might instantly go viral.
So, today, #20, I'm extremely grateful for all the rights I enjoy living in this country. We are made powerful through the rights we have been given. But with great power comes great responsibility. As we instantly tweet and discuss the actions of our president, so we should hold big corporations to task. We should demand fair treatment for the workers who literally slave away making the clothes that we'll only wear a handful of times. Because these people haven't been given a voice, we should become their voice. Because that is their right.
